Shalador’s Lady (Black Jewels #8) by Anne Bishop (Science Fiction)

For years the Shalador people suffered the cruelties of the corrupt Queens who ruled them, forbidding their traditions, punishing those who dared show defiance, and forcing many more into hiding. Now that their land has been cleansed of tainted Blood, the Rose-Jeweled Queen, Lady Cassidy, makes it her duty to restore it and prove her ability to rule. But even if Lady Cassidy succeeds, other dangers await. For the Black Widows see visions within their tangled webs that something is coming that will change the land-and Lady Cassidy-forever…

Anne Bishop’s Black Jewels series never fails to suck me in. Some would consider it girly science fiction since there is romance in it, but there is also a lot of action in the story as well. Anne Bishops imagination is seen in ever sentence in the book. Bishop’s ideas involving magic and nonmagic are intriguing. This books is not one I would start with though, while it does not focus around the original characters from her other books they are involved. I highly recommend this series. I have been a fan of Anne Bishop since the first book came out about 10 years ago and I always look forward to a new one coming out. I have read other Anne Bishop series and she never fails to draw me in. I have yet to read an Anne Bishop book that I did not enjoy.
