Lost and broken, Celaena Sardothien’s only thought is to avenge the savage death of her dearest friend: as the King of Adarlan’s Assassin, she is bound to serve this tyrant, but he will pay for what he did. Any hope Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan’s biggest threat – and his own toughest enemy. While Celaena learns of her true destiny, and the eyes of Erilea are on Wendlyn, a brutal and beastly force is preparing to take to the skies. Will Celaena find the strength not only to win her own battles, but to fight a war that could pit her loyalties to her own people against those she has grown to love?
I was hoping this was a trilogy, but it’s not so I anxiously await book 4 *sigh*. Not as good as book one, but better than book two. I really enjoyed the witches, Manon’s, view point with the wyvrens. I’m hoping they end up leaving the king and siding with Celaena aka Aelin. I want to see more of them in the next book. I loved Choal in book 1, but he’s starting to turn into a real whiner and it’s bugging me. What is it lately with author’s having really strong male characters in the first book and having them turn into snivelers by the end of the series? I’d like a good solid and strong male character through a whole series. Calaena was starting to do that as well and it bugged me, but I think she found herself in this book so hopefully no more of that in book 4. I feel really bad for Dorian, he definitely had the worst luck in this book. Sad that book 4 hasn’t even gotten a title or release date yet.
